was dismissed from the Royal Navy for engaging in sexual

activities with sailors. He admits to this in a recorded interview

with Les Cummings and Ralph Mitchell. He presents himself

as the pillar of the community but when you read these emails

sent to us from concerned citizens, you can see he is a

rather shady character

Today we receive another email complaining about Cllr Butler.

Please read this alarming email and just how this man is not fit

to represent the Portsmouth electorate and should resign.

Hello there,

 

I just received your leaflet through my door, so I thought I'd look you up on the web, to find the not so charming David Steven Butler featured on there. Yes, I totally agree with the anonymous woman's email on your website. My husband & I have suffered a similar experience of this poor excuse for a man.

 

We once went to his & partner, Phils, for a glass of wine, where he spent all evening wildly flirting with my husband - telling him "I bet you look gorgeous in uniform"! Urgh!!

He also came to a birthday bash at ours, where he was gone for a good hour or so. Someone went upstairs to use the bathroom, to find him 'cosily' chatting in the dark with a young lad (without his mum). He'd spent all that evening insulting our guests to the point where the majority ended up moving to the front room in order to get away from him! He even told one close friend of ours, I kid you not, he commented: "My dear, you're terribly thin - is this intentional, or are you terminally ill"?! Naturally, she was very upset. Now, what if she had been terminally ill? What a disgusting little man this is. My husband & I had to phone the guests the very next day in order to apologise for this horrible little man's appauling behaviour.

 

As a born again christian myself, I find it absolutely nausiating that he claims to be a man of God, whilst behaving in a manner that is biblically so offensive to God. How can this creature claim to love God whilst practising activities that God detests? HE IS A BLASPHEMY! It's (so called) christians like this who give true sincere christians a bad name.

Before I'd discovered what utter filth this man was, I once wanted to chat with him regarding a personal matter. He turned up telling me that I should be privileged that he met me, as (in his words): " I don't like women very much as people", continuing that I should be flattered by his meeting with me. I even had to pay for his lunch!!

 

For a few christmases, shortly after receiving our cards, we'd get a letter in the post from him ordering us to address our cards with his correct full title on the envelope when we sent them in the future. Needless to say - we sent no more. I very much rather wanted to continue, correcting his title; 'To David Steven ********** (EDITED OUT BY PO12BG) Butler', but my husband wouldn't allow me to!

 

This man is vile, he is vermin - lock up your sons!

I'm so sorry that the lady & her husband (mentioned in your website) also had the David 'Sleazebag' Butler experience.

 

Please feel free to post this on your website, (obviously anonymously). I think it's vital that people are aware of what this awful little man is all about. HE SHOULD BE STOPPED!!!

 

I hope that the lady reads this, and consequently realises that it's not just her that he behaved in such a disgusting manner with. I sincerely hope & pray that Mr. Butler reads (or gets wind of) this, and consequently gains a conscience, along with some morals & people skills.

Dear sir/madam,

I noticed a letter placed inside of Cunningham Court, Collingwood Road regarding information on Cllr/Rev David Stephen Butler. I have been a resident of Cunningham Court for more than five years and have known Cllr Butler for the duration of this time. I do not wish to be named in any way as I unfortunately have to encounter this man on a daily basis.

I find Cllr Butler an unpleasant character. Not only does he dominate life within our small community, (always getting involved with issues such as car parking spaces- despite the fact that he does not even own a car), PHA, who own the building are reluctant to allow any residents home improvements or allowing workmen to park their vans in the car park due to the constant phone calls and complaints made by Cllr Butler.

The recent by-elections were also a farce, everyday we were getting literature through the door from either the Lib Dems or Conservatives, informing us of nothing more than how the argument between Butler and the Tory candidate was progressing- we heard him call her a liar, her call him fat, him saying that he was fat because of an illness, etc... no mention of policies just this innane bickering. Who funded that?

I was also a student at South Downs College, Purbrook between 1995 and 1997, at the same time Cllr Butler was teaching religious studies and theology. A friend of mine was taught by him at this time, remarking that he was "sleazy" with many of the male students. Not long after this, Cllr Butler was either sacked or asked to resign following the revelation that despite being a forty year old man with a wife and two children, he was involved in a sexual relationship with one of his 17 year old male students.

Also when myself and my girlfriend first moved into the building we were invited into Cllr Butler and his partner, Phil's home for a glass of wine to welcome us to building, which we thought was very nice of him so we went. Upon arriving at his door, Phil invited us in where we were met by Cllr Butler wearing only a vest and boxer shorts (it was a very hot day, but that is surely not a good reason to dress in such a way when you have guests). This made my girlfriend very uncomfortable (a large middle aged man in his underwear). After a short time of talking with them Cllr Butler said something along the lines of "the two of you aren't as noisy in the bedroom as the people who used to live there". At this point we made our excuses and left. Not only was it an inappropriate thing to say to people you have only just met, it isn't the sort of thing that you want to hear from a Reverend or a Councillor- certainly not from someone who is both.

I am giving this information as I agree with many of the points in your letter and think that it reasons such as what I have outlined in the previous two paragraphs as to why such Cllr's do not divulge their past history and its a disgrace. However once again I must insist that I am not named in anyway, and I will be keeping a copy of this email in case any information about me is made public.
